Step 5

The smelter, using a graphite rod, is checking the consistency of the material which is now in a liquid state.

Step 6

The molten compound is poured into a clean graphite mold  where the mixture is allowed to cool and solidify.

Step 7

The homogenized metal is removed from the mold covered by a residue of flux, referred to as “slag”.

Step 8
An electric scaler is used to remove the slag and clean the bar in preparation for sampling.

Step 9
A sample is taken from several parts of the bar using a high powered drill press. Drilling various areas of the bar ensures a consistent and accurate sample of the contained precious metals.
